Mleg dam project

The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture planned to develop the Mligh Dam project in El Kef, Tunisia, with SINOHYDRO Corporation Engineering Bureau as the main contractor. The project includes the construction of a 68 m dam with a capacity of 190,000,000 cubic metres of water, as well as its associated structures, which include a small hydroelectric station. The project also includes the seizure of land required for the dam's construction and operation. The project will safeguard the area from flooding while also addressing the region's agriculture and domestic water needs.

In addition to the amount of water and bottom outlet, the dam's ancillary construction includes a main spillway above the dam with a drainage capacity of 8600 m3/s, a secondary stream on the right bank of the valley with a drainage capacity of 6100 m3/s, and a small hydroelectric power station with a combined capacity of approximately 2 MW.

The Arab Fund loan covers around 74% of the overall project expenses of $48 million; the Tunisian government will cover the remaining expenditures and any unexpected costs that may occur.
