Zaha Park
Zaha Park is one of the most famous beacons of the New Administrative Capital, as it is considered the first mall in Egypt inspired by the engineer “Zha Hadid” in the form of waves, making the entire mall distinctive in the central business district of the New Capital. Zaha Park is located minutes away from the International Administrative Capital Airport and directly overlooks the Axis of Hope in the MU23 area and directly connects the Suez-Ain Sokhna Road. Not only is this what makes Zaha Park special, but there is more than that. Zaha Park is one of the giant "Home Town" projects that combines work, pleasure, safety and psychological comfort for all, in terms of the ideal mall location, the distinctive and organized mall division, what it offers to customers, and the superlative ability of attraction not only from the capital or Cairo, but from various parts, where the mall contains 9 floors Changed the ground floor and ceiling, divided into a large number of stores, brands, specialized companies, medical and administrative units of different sizes. Zaha Park focuses on the attractions that are the first of its kind in the New Capital, such as the first dancing fountain, the first bowling center in the city, and the first artificial lake with sandy beaches. You can also see the Green River from our wonderful balcony and that wonderful sky-high view that serves the employees who work in the mall This is in addition to the presence of a free children's area, which provides safety for the family. The mall includes a distinctive area for Khan Al-Khalili works, jewelry, gifts, cinemas, and special parties. Not only that, but there are a lot of services for customers, employees and visitors because of the integrated services that the mall contains. In Zaha Park, we have used fracture engineering, which aims to liberate architecture away from the rigidity of natural connotations and traditional contradictions and the contrast between the shape of the building and the land on which it is built, and the traditional contrast between the structural structure and decorations, which makes the design one of the aesthetic features that combine design creativity and productivity.

A Breakthrough for Dar and the Greater Beirut Water Supply Project

On Friday, December 6, 2019 and with all project partners in attendance, Dar celebrated the breakthrough of the last TBM tunnel within the “Greater Beirut Water Supply Project.”

The event marked the successful and safe completion of the boring of the third tunnel, despite all the challenges faced. The tunnel had crossed hard geological conditions, encountered a cavern, and passed under a congested residential area at a relatively shallow depth along the final stretch of the alignment at Khaldeh. Notwithstanding, the hard work and dedication of the project’s team led to the completion of this daunting task and to the safe delivery of this milestone.

The completed tunnel runs around 9 km from Damour to Khaldeh and was bored using a gripper-type tunnel boring machine. With tunnel boring completed, the works will proceed on installing the final lining inside the tunnels and on laying the pipelines. The final system – which is composed of 24-km-long tunnels (with a final diameter of 2.8 m) and 16-km-long pipelines – will convey water from the existing hydroelectric power system tunnel at Joun to Beirut’s water infrastructure, in order to boost the city’s water supply.

We are proud to have been involved in this massive achievement, where Dar has undertaken the design review and supervision of the project.

Jabal Omar development

Jabal Omar development is a new luxury hotel and serviced apartments complex in the heart of Makkah. Inspired by traditional Arab architecture, its design reinterprets the traditional dense building clusters, creating a new contemporary vernacular that respects its sacred location. Following the mountainous terrain, its cascading vertical elements form a new topography. The new mixed-use development will create a new gateway along the route to the Grand Mosque for pilgrims from the world over.

The scheme addresses the shortage of accommodation in Makkah in response to the rapid growth in visitor numbers. Occupying a large portion of the site, the orientation of all rooms and apartments maximise and optimise views towards the Holy Kaaba – the main focal point for every visitor.  Generated from the inside-out, its interiors design is an antidote to the lack of identity that typical generic hotel rooms suffer from. Every room has a dedicated space for private prayer and contemplation that provides direct views to the Grand Mosque and Holy Kaaba.

Located on the axis between the new Haramain High-speed Rail Station and the Grand Mosque, the site also forms a key part of the pilgrims’ journey towards the Holy Kaaba. A dramatic pedestrian ramp integrated with the new topography will take the pilgrims through naturally lit spaces, adding to the special experience of visiting the Grand Mosque.
