Egyptian and Sudanese transport officials have begun discussions on a new 900-kilometer railway that will connect the two nations and boost passenger and commercial mobility. The new railway line was discussed by the Sudanese Deputy Minister of Transport Muawiya Ali Khaled and his Egyptian colleague Hassan El-Leith.

The Egyptian group that visited the Sudanese city of Ashkeet exhibited a model of the project's various courses, which included the Aswan-Toshka route and the Abu Simbel path with a 66-kilometer bridge to Qastal to reach Wadi Halfa, north of Sudan's capital.

The proposed railway line in Sudan will connect Aswan and Khartoum and will be built in accordance with Egyptian network regulations. People will be able to travel directly to the Sudanese capital from the Sidi Gaber station in Alexandria, Egypt after the project is completed.
